Although Asclepius is not considered an important god of Greek mythology he is a central figure in the context of archetypal hero-healers. He also took part in the journey of the Argonauts and the hunt for Caledonian Boar, a fact that includes him in the lives of the most important heroes of Greek mythology. Asclepius was also an important figure in the drama that that has been unfolded between Apollo, Zeus and the Cyclops, known to us through the theatrical drama of Euripides Alcestis.
